Summary American violet: A young, single mother of four is wrongly accused of selling drugs near a school and is offered a plea deal that would force her to admit to a crime she didn't commit. She challenges the laws of Texas when, instead of ruining her life with a conviction, she decides to sue the DA for racial discrimination in a case that changes her life as well as the laws of her state. Based on a true story.
All things fall apart: A promising football running back plans to make it to the NFL. At the pinnacle of his college football career, his dreams are shattered and he loses everything. But determination and a newly found inner strength enable him to triumph.
Blood done sign my name: Recounts the aftermath of the murder of Henry Marrow, a 23-year-old African-American Vietnam veteran who was killed by a prominent white businessman and his grown sons in Oxford, North Carolina. Responding to the crime and the sham trial that followed, many young African-American men took to the streets, engaging in riots and vandalism. Marrow's cousin, Benjamin Chavis, decided that the best way to protest the government was a peaceful march on the state capitol.
Home again: Three strangers' lives collide in surprising ways when each is deported to their native Jamaica and forced to start anew on the punishing, unforgiving streets of Kingston. Marva, a single mother from Toronto, struggles to cope with being ripped from her children. Everton, an irresponsible British teen, desperately awaits word of his court appeal. Dunston, a New Yorker, tries to escape his criminal past.
